South Korea’s defense sector is advancing into a new phase of cutting-edge technology with the establishment of the Military AI Center. This center holds a pivotal role in the nation’s strategic agenda, tasked with overseeing the development of AI technology tailored for defense purposes.
With around 110 experts comprising both civilian and military personnel, the center concentrates on integrating AI across a range of defensive operations.
Defense Minister Shin Won-sik and Science Minister Lee Jong-ho attended a significant event at the Agency for Defense Development in Daejeon. This event highlighted South Korea’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities through advanced technology, positioning it as a leader in defense innovation globally.
The focus of the center is on developing AI-powered systems that integrate manned and unmanned assets, as well as enhancing awareness of battlefield conditions, both crucial elements in modern warfare tactics.
