The Hong Kong Tourism Board has announced that Consensus, the world’s longest-standing and most influential cryptocurrency and Web3 event, will take place here from February 19 to 21.
This flagship event is expected to draw more than 8,000 participants from around the globe.
The conference, which brings together key players from the cryptocurrency, blockchain and Web3 ecosystem industries, aims to brainstorm and shape the future of digital technology.
It marks the first time in five years that this influential industry event will be held outside of the United States, with this year’s event taking place in Texas in May.
The three-day conference will be hosted at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, and the 8,000 participants are expected to include 6,000 global industry players.
The government, in collaboration with the board, extended comprehensive support to the event organizers during the bidding process, including providing professional advisory services, coordinating venue arrangements and conducting site inspections.
Coindesk, the organizer, said it has confidence in Hong Kong as the perfect destination for its global expansion plans, citing the city’s favorable business atmosphere and growth opportunities.
Foster Wright, president of Coindesk, said: “Hong Kong has strategically positioned itself as a pivotal digital assets hub in this dynamic region, and it is a city with such strong fundamentals in terms of business environment and growth opportunities, truly the ideal destination for our global expansion plan.”
Wright also highlighted the value of attending the event, saying “Participants can expect to learn best practices from global experts and establish relationships that can propel their businesses onto the international stage.”
Kenneth Wong Cheuk-hung, general manager of MICE & Cruise at the Tourism Board, said he’s excited about Consensus choosing Hong Kong as its first destination for expanding its global footprint beyond North America.
”It is a vote of confidence that this flagship crypto and Web3 conference picks Hong Kong as the city provides a fertile ground for businesses and industries,” he said.
Wong also cited the positive impact of the event on the city’s economic and sector advancement.
He highlighted the city’s commitment to providing participants with enriched experiences and ensuring the success and growth of the conference.
