Cardano Founder Charles Hoskinson has warned of a potential proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered scams over the next 12 months.
As highlighted by popular crypto proponent Digital Asset Investor, Charles Hoskinson this year and 2025 may usher in the “largest bull market we’re likely to see.” With it, scams as has never been seen before will emerge with the right tools now at the disposal of cybercriminals to play with.
The post from Hoskinson has generated a lot of buzz in the community, especially with commenters noting how the wave of scams has started sweeping in.
The Cardano Founder Case Study
The Cardano Founder noted in his video that it was the real Charles Hoskinson addressing his audience but that the case may not be so in the coming 24 months with AI video impersonators now in the market.
He specifically mentioned Large Language Model (LLM) applications as tools these scammers may use.

He noted that he will likely be an easy target for impersonators to create videos with his face, voice, and mannerisms. While he noted that the content of the videos might vary considerably to solicit funds or to spread fake news about his role, the damage to the market might be irreversible.
He also pointed out that other potential targets for these scammers could be Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin and Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse. Hoskinson noted that with how real these AI scams will be, many are at risk of falling for the tricks.
The Deepfake Menace
As some community members mentioned, there is a growing menace of Deepfake Videos impersonating top market leaders. Brad Garlinhouse remains the favorite of many scammers with different videos of him announcing XRP giveaways, a scheme constantly debunked by Ripple Labs.
As a solution, many expect blockchain to help fight against these scams through tamper-proof storage systems. However, the best approach being taken to fight these crimes includes public awareness and education, a style working for Ripple.
