Kaon Group, an artificial intelligence (AI) solution provider in South Korea, announced it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with extended reality (XR) solution company Virnect to strengthen their technological collaboration further.
Under the MOU, Kaon Group and Virnect plan to enhance their cooperation in the development of metaverse technologies, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and XR, with a focus on expanding their presence in the market.
Kaon Group, which is spearheading XR business via its subsidiary K-FutureTech, previously developed a specialized 5G XR device for training purposes in 2022. This device was supplied to the Korean National Police Agency and helped the company to establish a foundation in the public sector market. Virnect is a company specializing in XR solutions, uses computer vision-based technology to detect and track three-dimensional spaces and objects in real-time, and, having secured major Korean enterprises, government agencies, and public institutions as clients, successfully listed on the Kosdaq market in 2023.
We will closely collaborate using our unique technologies to build an integrated XR solution that can lead to commercialization, a Kaon Group spokesperson said.
With the recent robust sales of Apples XR headset Vision Pro at the beginning of February 2024, market expectations for the mainstreaming of the metaverse era continue to increase.
